Ref : Timsit JF et al. Accuracy of a composite score using daily SAPS II and LOD scores for predicting hospital mortality in ICU patients hospitalized for more than 72 h. Intensive Care Med. 2001;27:1012-1021.
Cohort study was conducted
within medical and surgical ICUs.
All patients were over of 16 years of age.
The TRIO score is valid only for patients in ICU for at least 4
days.
Transfert from ward : was defined as an acute-bed-hospital stay of more than 24 hours before ICU admission.
The chronic health status : was assessed using APACHE II classification : presence of one or more chronic illness.
Liver insufficiency | Cardiovascular |
|
Renal | Immuno-depression |
Biopsy proven
cirrhosis Documented portal hypertension, Episodes of past upper GI bleeding attributed to portal hypertension Prior episodes of hepatic failure / encephalopathy / coma. |
|
Chronic restrictive,
obstructive or vascular disease resulting in severe exercice
restriction, i.e. unable to climb stairs or perform
household duties. Documented chronic hypoxia, hypercapnia, secondary polycythemia , severe pulmonary hypertension (> 40 mmHg), or respirator dependency. |
|
The patient has received therapy that suppresses resistance to infection e.g. immuno-suppression, chemotherapy, radiation, long term or recent hight dose steroids, or has a disease that is sufficiently advanced to suppress resistance to infection, e.g. leukemia, lymphoma, AIDS. |
SAPS II 2-SAPS II 3 alteration and LODS 2-LODS 3 alteration:
SAPS II 2 and LODS 2 are SAPS
II and LODS measured at day 2.
SAPS II 3 and LODS 3 are SAPS II and LODS measured at day 3.
Alteration of severity scores take the value "1" when score increases
and the value "0" otherwise.
